New Fencing

I put in some new fencing
To call it perfect would be lying
But, in my own defensing
It was my very first time trying

I was mending a short section
Through which a large tree had grown
And vines pulled in every direction
Made twists and bends like their own

I drove in tall posts with hard tamps
Then ran a long stretch of railing
I added some brackets and clamps
And unrolled the chain-link bailing

I stretched the fencing tightly
And bound it with metal ties
And though not good as it might be
I have to admit my surprise

I have no remaining doubt
My fence is snug as can be
And my dog will not get out
Though it’s too late for the tree
