Circadian

Man scours the land
With mind and hand
Seeking to understand
Trying to distill an essence
As common as sand
Beyond mere words
Known to fish and birds
From ant colony to elephant herd

Subtle but certain
An unfelt vibration
The unheard ticking of a natural clock
A living connection
Unseen by eyes
Nor spoken by tongue
Nor heard by straining ear
Only felt in the heart

A flower opens
A wolf howls
A leaf falls
A worm crawls
Water flows
Wind blows
Snow falls
Men crawl
