Thursday Thought: I’d Love To Change The World

Many are the times I’ve pondered: How does one change the world?

It’s not an easy thing to grasp.  For the world is vast and populous and not designed for Man’s machinations.

First, one must decide and define "What" - what are we seeking to change?   Then, "Who" - who are we seeking to change?  And lastly, "Why" - why change the world?

"What" might be attitudes or perceptions, trying to open people’s eyes and minds. Change seems dependant upon that, at the very least.

"Who"?  Well, ideally it would be everybody, to have everyone ‘on the same page’ so to speak.  But that’s probably impossible, given the world’s many cultures, not to mention the sheer number of people. So the next logical demarcation would be: As many as possible.  Indeed, I think real change would be hard to effect otherwise.

"Why" sounds fairly straightforward at first; something like to make the world a better place seems a positive and noble aim.  But such broad-sweeping generalities lack the focus to implement the "How" - the inevitably narrow point whereupon many good intentions are skewered.

And "How" leads one right back to…

"What"?

Change the world?

If only.

  2. To change the world, you have to change yourself first. I don't know which is harder.
Changing it for the better, that is--I don't think it's hard at all to change it for the worse, fast and easily, if you have the platform.

  3. We begin with ourselves, the only thing we truly have any control of. :) Wonderful post!

  4. At least the focus has been changed about trying to preserve the natural environment- A feat which seemeed impossible to me back in college Earth n Ocean Science courses.

Perhaps writing can influence- if it makes sense, n hits the right audience.
