Lingering Warmth

Mom came to me in a dream last night.
Just as I remember her.

Then suddenly it struck me: Mom is here!
(But couldn’t be!)

And I knew time was short.

I told her she looked really good
and gave her a big hug.

Then my sister was there,
excitedly calling for my father and brother

Urging us all to come hug mom
while she was still there.

But I woke up.

I felt sad, yet I was warm inside.
And I dread the cold of the coming winter.

  2. My mother was also one of my best friends and she died suddenly just 2 days before her 56th birthday. I was shocked, angry, and grieved her loss deeply. That was in 1989 and, I still miss her as much today as I did then. But, I know she is still close by. When I'm at a really low ebb something makes me think of her, or, I feel her if my hair suddenly moves, as if a breeze and yet, there is none. Amazing things what love and unseen love can and does, do.
I'm glad you were left with a warm glow.
    I too am dreading winter.

  3. I had my Dad come to me in my dreams too. It made me feel better like a blanket keeping me warm.

  4. Gotta love those personal appearances from those no longer with us....even if it's only a dream.
