Mechanimal

Purring gears drive long, smooth cylinders
Stretching and retracting with sure purpose
Sensitive sensors measuring distance

Timers and relays guide carefully probing steps
Quietly ratcheting mechanisms transfer energy

Moving parts glide silently inside
Functions follow specified designs
Adapting quickly to conditions

Original programming takes precedence
Code maps leave nothing to chance

  1. This reads like the staccatto of a machine, many parts in motion. Nice one, Eric.

  2. I love the mix of cat and mechanical description. Interesting poem, and I mean that in a good way.

  3. This poem seems built Ford tough by quality control engineers. Reminds me of AI and contemplating whether or not machines "think" Great work, Bubba

  9. Nice. The cadence just clicks along. (It reminds me a little of the background sound of the current Jeep commercial.) And I know "animals" just like that.

  14. Well oiled gears tremble to the beautiful sounds of progress, technology, all driven by the force of the coded directions. Nice imagery.

  16. I liked that very much, particularly the last four lines. The 'code maps' particularly evocative.

Thanks so much for riding! Did you read about the book bit? If it's OK to use the poem, e-mail me at TitusmckayATaolDOTcom with the name you'd like it to appear under.

  18. What's the problem, FTSE? It's a motor bike. Hmmmm . . . maybe I recognised it because I ride one.

  19. It's a panther motor bike me thinks. Great to have a new rider on the bus!! And perhaps a motor bike rider at that!

  20. Well, this is a cool analogy. I really like how you liken the cat's movements to a machine - it really works.
