Gingerbread Man

Listen, folks, while I sing you the song

Of a gingerbread man who was baked too long

When they opened the oven, he jumped up off the pan

And said, “Run for your lives! I’m the Gingerbread Man!”

Run, run, run, just as fast as you can

You can’t escape from the Gingerbread Man

The Gingerbread Man grabbed a big sharp knife

And the baker ran off screaming for his life

But the baker was fat and he ran too slow

And so the baker man was the first to go

You can’t escape from the Gingerbread Man

The Gingerbread Man ran off down the street

Waving his knife at the people he’d meat

One by one he chased the people through town

And one by one the people all fell down

Once the poor townsfolk were laid to waste

The Gingerbread Man took off with haste

To head toward a larger town

To find more people to hack down

Then, in the distance, he saw a great city

His smile grew and he said, “Now isn’t that pretty?

A city just bursting with people to slay!

I can’t wait to meet them!  Oh what a grand day!”

As the Gingerbread Man neared the great city

He came to a neighborhood, grimy and gritty

And there, on a porch, there sat a very old man

Looking raggedy and thin as the truly poor can

The Gingerbread Man leapt up on the stoop

And brandished his knife in a great loop

“I’m the Gingerbread Man, and this is my knife!

And now, poor soul, I’m going to take your life!”

The old man looked up with eyes wet like jelly

And a great big growl rolled up from his belly

Suddenly, the knife was sent flying with a kick

Then the Gingerbread Man got gobbled up quick

You can’t escape from a hungry old man
