An Apology To Nature

I’m sorry for pulling the weeds
That were just trying to survive

I’m sorry for plucking flowers
Cutting their beautiful time

I’m sorry for burning wood
And making houses from trees

I’m sorry for killing spiders and
Mosquitoes that landed on me

I’m sorry for my polluting
Your water and your air

I’m sorry for all the times
When I gave you not a care

I’m sorry for all of mankind
I know we have to be smarter

I’m sorry for all these things
And I promise to try harder

  1. It always cracks me up when people hand me plastic or bottles and say, "You look like someone who recycles" :) Guess you do too!

  2. I love where you took "I'm sorry..." The cadence of this poem feels so nice when read. In many regards it's a very powerful poem.
