The Day's Accounting

Our day has just begun

We’re always on the run

Whether it’s work or fun

We go from here to there

To the job or to a fair

Sometimes we know not where

We do what must be done

Sometimes under the gun

Sometimes never begun

Work can wait another day

But fun must be done today

Lest the chance go away

We always race the sun

Though we’ve never won

And now our day is done
