Cleopatra’s
palace is underwater
The
Grand Colonnade submerged
Deep
on the bottom of the Nile
Paving
stones that had been
Trod
upon by Egyptian royalty
Now
just a path hidden by time
The
fishes fight and frolic
Living
out their brief lives
Where
powerful rulers dwelled
Century
upon century
Pharaohs
and queens lived
Inside
this glorious city
Now
gone, but not forgotten
As
moss and water erode
Their
once regal home
Now gone, but not forgotten... yet
ReplyDeleteA time will pass, you can bet,
When no man roams the Earth
No men and not a bit of their memory
is bound to remain
Not even if the world then knows
creatures of intelligence on a higher plane
