When we each
were young
We eagerly
celebrated
The passing
of each year
But, when we
get older
And see the
end looming
We look upon
it with fear
Each birthday
cake
Aglow with
candles
Lights up the
child’s face
But before too
long
Seeing so
many candles
Seem just a
bright disgrace
A year brings
another
‘Til we’ve
seen so many
We wish that life
would move slower
But the young,
they just laugh
Make a wish
and blow fast
Before the
candle burns any lower
That was sweet and melancholy. I liked it.
