There’s a sickness that’s
going ‘round
Social infection quite
profound
People obsessed with each new
thing
Desperate to give life
meaning
Something to fill that empty
void
Phenomenon hard to avoid
Clamoring for stuff, clinging
hard
To entertainment’s each last
shard
Movies and music and gadgets
galore
TV shows and clothes media folks
whore
We’re forgetting how to live,
how to think
With a new distraction each
time we blink
Poured and absorbed through
every pore
Everywhere, you cannot to
ignore
A wonderful world that we’ve
forgot
As we sit idly by in our
false-idol rot
Our bodies and minds now so
sedate
I wonder why and how long we
will wait
