The Task

I have a grisly task to do
The feelings pull so fresh
I need to use my knife so sharp
To pierce and carve some flesh

Inner-demons shake my hand
Encouraging this play
Sinners do as they command
There is no other way

I’ll grab hold firm and stab so deep
With pointed, precise cuts
I’ll slice until the flesh gives way
Then scoop out all the guts

My knife is not a phallic thing
(A knife is just a knife)
My hand and will are what it needs
to make it come to life

My task is grisly and so grim
You might think it a crime
But there’s no need for the police
It’s PUMPKIN CARVING TIME
