It’s been raining for two weeks straight now, with no sign of Indian Summer. Normally I love fall, with its crunchy dry leaves, but the leaves are all wet and brown. Or at least as far as I can tell, standing under my umbrella, peering over my foggy glasses and singing “Rain, rain, go away…”
(I'm double-dipping, participating in G-Man's Friday 55 and Poets United's Thursday Think Tank!)
Seriously?! Two weeks of rain already? That seems early, but I wouldn't really know. Cute story though! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love your new Deviant Art photo/ad. Awesome. It caught my eye right away.
Send the rain to us down here in Louisiana (or to my neighbor, Texas)! We've had about an inch of rain all summer.
ReplyDeleteCalm down, cowboy. It ain't officially Fall until tomorrow. ;-)
Rain and fall go together, sometimes, I think. But you're right, it is the crisp cool dry days we remember and love the most, isn't it?
ReplyDeletePlease send the rain this way. We had 2 brief rains here in the desert all summer.
ReplyDeleteBubba?
ReplyDeleteRaining for TWO WEEKS?
What part of Michigan do you live in?
Be that as it may, I'm so glad that it inspired you back to the Friday Funfest!
Excellent 55 Eric
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
Back on the 55 band wagon. Cool.
ReplyDeleteThat is too much rain... Nice to see you at FF55~
ReplyDeletewe do have rain, only twice this week.
ReplyDeletewishing you a sunny day tomorrow.
i like my fall crisp and cool not floppy and wet....
ReplyDeleteGood to see you Eric
ReplyDeletethe soggy autumn leaves also harder to rake
I LOVE your profile photo - wish we'd had that one for your interview! It's raining here, too. I love it - except for the fact of four wet doggies tracking it indoors:)
ReplyDeleteWhat are you griping about? I gotta live with The Human.
ReplyDeleteI sympathise - soggy leaves are no fun...
ReplyDeleteLiked it ... made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteNo fun....we need to send all this rain to TEXAS!
ReplyDeleteFoggy glasses-- yup- hate that! we have some rain and brown leaves too; but also a few unexpected Blooms! ( my yellow Azalea is having a second go at it!) thanks.
ReplyDeleteOr you could change your attitude and sing "I'm singing in the rain" while dancing around with your umbrella... doesn't that sound more fun?
ReplyDeletevisual poem... I can see you peering out from your umbrella... :)
ReplyDeleteOh I agree, too much rain is as bad as not enough. Hope it stops raining there for you!
ReplyDeleteSounds as though you live near us. Wettest September since 1916 apparently.
ReplyDeleteThink it's going to take more than 'rain rain go away'!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Morning AJ--have you tried sacrificing a chicken at midnite or something?
ReplyDeleteI sang the same thing from March to May, when it was raining almost every day during summer. Why don't you try the sun dance?
ReplyDeleteI like your 55, but, like you, I dislike rain when in the mood for Indian Summer. So far (knock wood) we appear to be heading into a decent Indian Summer, after having had a miserably rainy first half of summer. Nope, I am not ready for the drizzly stuff yet. I hope you get a reprieve!
ReplyDeleteI can see you standing there under your umbrella. Hope sunshine and Indian Summer comes your way soon. Sun shinning here this morning!! A new day, a new outlook, a fresh start.
ReplyDeleteYou are gonna hate real Indian Summer. Too hot!! Send some rain here!
ReplyDeletedivisive
Solid seasonal write.
