The Ceremony

We gathered
to the tall church spire

We gathered
beneath vaulted ceilings

We gathered
for the sake of a child

We gathered
at a time of Christening

In bright eyes
we see family spirit

In bright eyes
we see tradition

In bright eyes
we see love’s light

In bright eyes
we see the future

  1. I see the future in the bright eyes of my granddaughters. I love watching them discover things for the first time.

  3. That reminds me of the last christening I went to. The whole group grew quiet with a gasp when a ray of sunlight came through the window and lit the baby's head as the priest was about to put the water upon it.

  9. As Baptists, we don't have Christenings. But we have baptisms when the kids are of an age to have made up their minds. Joyful occasions all...yes? Bright eyes with hope, tears, anticipation. Such a future before these young ones. A soft and lovely heart wrote this :)
