I’d like to introduce you to my particular brand of lunacy
A place where songs whirl about wildly in your head
Nonsensical phrases repeat themselves continuously
Pulsing to the crazy beats of some unseen jazz drummer
Still waters run deep, that’s what they say
Still waters run deep, gonna drown that way
It’s a struggle to be Normal, to keep up appearances
To stay calm and rational with all this screaming inside
Drowning in the mad ravings of loud asylum voices
Never showing a hint of the madly-raging inner turmoil
Still waters run deep, that’s what they say
Still waters run deep, gonna drown that way

I think that it *is* "normal" to have those voices in your head. The abnormal part is where we all pretend to each other that we don't. That's why I like blogland...I feel free to let all my neuroses hang out. Plus, it's way cheaper than therapy...
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing okay...this one is pretty heavy, Eric.

You'll never let the still waters go stagnant.
ReplyDelete..smile..
So well expressed........and "normal" is over-rated, anyway:).......
ReplyDeleteStill waters run deep, that just says so much
ReplyDelete'Still waters run deep, that’s what they say
ReplyDeleteStill waters run deep, gonna drown that way'
I love those two lines, Eric.
This song needs some minor chords.
ReplyDeletebeautiful image on top,
ReplyDeletetrue words, smart flow...
Happy Tuesday.
Great poem! Of course we all have voices in our heads... they give us ideas to write about. :o)
