Reel It In

***

Alarm, awaken half-awake, what day, work day, get up, groggy, get going, sleep no, coffee yes, shower, shave, same, brush teeth, make lunch, drive, arrive, work, work, pretend to work, coffee again, bathroom break, go home, eat, see TV, yawn, brush teeth again, sleep.

Reel it in, reel it in.

Where do they get the money, when do they find the time, it must be nice, why would I even bother, what’s the use, got better things to do, how do ya like that, who cares, what gives?

Reel it in, reel it in.

A million bits swirl around, come together to form images, then separate, reform, disappear, darkness, somewhere a soft glow grows slowly brighter, something’s there, can’t quite put a finger on it, pull my finger, ha-ha.

Reel it in, reel it in.

Pound for pound, pounding the pavement, pavement’s cracked, not all it’s cracked up to be, bee hive, bee-havior, bee all that you can bee, be quiet, flights of fancy, swimming and flying the same, mirrored image.

Reel it in, reel it in.

Lookee there, whaddaya know, howzit goin, spell-Czech this, sometimes wrong is right and just what you meant, maybe not approved or sanctioned but better than that anyway, stupid rules meant to be broken or at least revised to fit my needs.

Reel it in, reel it in.

Started from nothing, learned most myself, self-made man, man-about-town, not about much, not to worry, fish are always there, fishing is life’s metaphor in so many ways, understanding not withstanding, hey, I’ve got a bite!

Reel it in, reel it in.

  1. My sister caught a 5 pound Catfish his week at Lake Fausse Point State Park. Sure wish I'd had a bite of that sucker fried up nice and fresh. Great post!
