Getting Ahead
Skeletons rattle and bones
tattle
Giving away an unnatural presence
Deep inside the great mausoleum
Long since dead, missing his
head
His animated frame lurking
about
Waiting for a suitable
replacement
Ready to snatch any head
that’s a match
Many, unsuspecting, have wandered
by
But, lucky for them, he’s quite
choosey
It’s okay during day, but
at night stay away
From the great mausoleum
he haunts
Always there, watching
those who pass
If you do so, mind you,
keep an eye out behind you
‘Cause you’ve got good head
on your shoulders
And you wouldn’t want him getting
ahead
