Apathy is
nothing new
The sins of
man are hardly few
The local
crowds gather about
To see some ‘justice’
carried out
The stockade,
lash, or hangman’s noose
Make
spectacle of law’s abuse
Young men’s
lives are thrown away
So governments
can get their pay
Yet silently
the masses stare
Apparently
without a care
No pity shows
upon their faces
Content that
they had not switched places
No crying out
against the act
As if all
empathy they lacked
No, apathy is
nothing new
But I suppose
you knew that too
