Don’t Bring Baby

Please don’t bring baby to our poetry reading

Lugging diaper bags and clogging-up the seating

Babbling and cooing are not what we’re needing

Letting the tot make such interruptive bleating

Causing commotion ‘cause it’s time for a feeding

Interjecting noise into our literary meeting

Being discourteous, the din so defeating

Ignoring advice ‘cause you know where it’s leading

Being so dismissive, but it bears repeating

Please don’t bring baby to our poetry reading
