What makes fall special
is its temporal quality
A mercurial change
that burns the landscape
with glorious, blazing colors
Before finally settling down to
the ground in brown blandness
For a brief time we get to see
the hidden spectrum Nature hordes
waiting to unveil her late-year spectacle
Fall is a splendid time of year, though I like the brown blandness that blankets the ground just as well. The crunch of leaves under my feet are one of my favorite sounds. Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteAnd some of us get to have autumn's glory in our hair for all year round :-)
ReplyDeletetrue that...the brilliant flash of beauty right before death...my fav time of year...
ReplyDeletelove the colors of fall...hate the clean up.

ReplyDeleteI love Nature hordes...! Well Done~
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time of year. I love the line "the hidden spectrum Nature hordes."
ReplyDeleteHi there! I like this a lot. I just wish Nature would share her spectrum of color a little longer and horde some of that white.
ReplyDeleteHi Bubba, nicely done. We didn't get to see many colors this year in upstate NY but at least I saw them through your eyes.
ReplyDelete'Temporal quality' is the magic all seasons have. Think how boring life would be with no changes?
ReplyDeleteYou describe that temporal quality nicely!
ReplyDeleteeven though it's temporal, we are lucky enough to see it every year
