Autumn Burns

What makes fall special
is its temporal quality

A mercurial change
that burns the landscape
with glorious, blazing colors

Before finally settling down to
the ground in brown blandness

For a brief time we get to see
the hidden spectrum Nature hordes
waiting to unveil her late-year spectacle

  1. Fall is a splendid time of year, though I like the brown blandness that blankets the ground just as well. The crunch of leaves under my feet are one of my favorite sounds. Beautiful poem.

  11. Hi there! I like this a lot. I just wish Nature would share her spectrum of color a little longer and horde some of that white.

  12. Hi Bubba, nicely done. We didn't get to see many colors this year in upstate NY but at least I saw them through your eyes.

  13. 'Temporal quality' is the magic all seasons have. Think how boring life would be with no changes?
