I Am The Wind

I am the wind
tickling the tree tops

I am the wind
brushing green grass

I am the wind
whispering in your ear

I am the wind
blowing through your hair

I am the wind
warm and gentle

I am the wind
brash and bold

I am the wind
harsh and cold

I am the wind
reckless and wild

I am the wind
fierce and cruel

I am the wind
twisting destructive

I am the wind
taker of life

I am the wind
reluctantly dying

I am the wind
slowly subsiding

I am the wind
calming and slow

I am the wind
I've got places to go

  1. That totally blows! (har har har)
I loved it. The cadence and the energy dwindling from it as I read it. Very nice. Very dynamic.

  2. nicely played eric...do we blame the wind for where it blows?

  3. I so relate to this poem as we lived for 3 years in a house overlooking Little Traverse Bay in Petoskey. The wind roared and crept by us, day and night. When we were moving in, we watched tornado clouds approach from the water and pass over our house. It did strike downtown Boyne City! Yes, I know all about wind. Nicely done.

  4. We each can be so many things; so many that seem the same, but are not.

  7. Absolutely beautiful, remided me of a song we used to sing when we were little translated into English "the tickling wind feels all loves all and tells nothing!" We welsh are odd people...

  8. "...reluctantly dying / ...slowly subsiding / ....calming and slow" Really great job ending this poem to fit the way wind calms down before you have it pick up and leave in the final line.
Very nice combination of form & concept.

  12. At first, I was like what-no that the wind was dying. Then I realized what you were doing and loved it. The first line will stick with me forever. :)

  17. Here in the desert, the winds can be fierce. I've often thought of wrting about it. No need to now. Your poem expresses the many facets of nature's truth.

Eric, I wanted you to know that I loved the poem, "Earth Mother's Song" in the poets united anthology. Your poem is one of my favorites. It lends the book the quality of true art.
