Fa-
Not falling,
Floating
Peaceful
Serene
Not blackness
Not all white
Nothing at all
No feeling
No sound
No “me”
Empty
Timeless
Nothing
FLASH!
What?
Nothing.
Nothing at-
FLASH!
No! I can’t-
FLASH!
I-
ELECTRIC!
SPINNING!
Soundtrack snaps into place, but-
FLASH!
Fade…
Ocean roars
Sweating
Heart’s pounding
Dizziness
Back again,
Here… now.
Okay.

Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
That's quite the experience. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteReally well done. I've never seen anyone break that process down before and describe it. It was insightful and enlightening.
ReplyDeleteI missed the title and after reading through the poem I thought, this sounds like a seizure. Then I saw the title. Fantastically done.
ReplyDeleteWell done, as always! You never disappoint. :)
ReplyDeleteVivid imagery. Well done.
ReplyDeleteDo you or a loved one know 1st hand what this feels like? My brother was a sufferer. He died young when he had a seizure and drowned. Also, I've worked with many patients who have had seizures. I've often wondered what it truly was like. Many cannot recall.
Wow. Sounds like a near death experience I don't want to have. I know it describes a seizure, but sheesh it shounds terrible.
ReplyDeleteWow, scary. at least there wasn't a THUD.
ReplyDeleteThat would be terrifying!
ReplyDeleteKinda goes along with my saying of: No matter how bad of a time I had, I can always get a poem out of it! Glad to see you back, my man.
ReplyDeletedefinite zap back to life; too bad to disrupt all that peaceful floating. Thanks.
ReplyDeletesounds like a roller coaster ride to me! :)
ReplyDeleteI have never had a literal seizure, but I think your poem must capture the experience well... you have done well with your literal (literary) seizure!
ReplyDeleteAll this falling :)
ReplyDeleteIt's quite lovely actually, reading it here, i will enjoy my fall.
Thank you.
