SEIZURE

Falling
Fa-
Not falling,
Floating

Peaceful
Serene

Not blackness

Not all white

Nothing at all

No feeling
No sound

No “me”

Empty

Timeless

Nothing

FLASH!

What?

Nothing.

Nothing at-

FLASH!

No! I can’t-

FLASH!

I-
ELECTRIC!

SPINNING!

Soundtrack snaps into place, but-

FLASH!
Fade…

Ocean roars

Sweating
Heart’s pounding

Dizziness

Back again,
Here… now.

Okay.

  5. Really well done. I've never seen anyone break that process down before and describe it. It was insightful and enlightening.

  6. I missed the title and after reading through the poem I thought, this sounds like a seizure. Then I saw the title. Fantastically done.

  8. Vivid imagery. Well done.

Do you or a loved one know 1st hand what this feels like? My brother was a sufferer. He died young when he had a seizure and drowned. Also, I've worked with many patients who have had seizures. I've often wondered what it truly was like. Many cannot recall.

  9. Wow. Sounds like a near death experience I don't want to have. I know it describes a seizure, but sheesh it shounds terrible.

  11. Kinda goes along with my saying of: No matter how bad of a time I had, I can always get a poem out of it! Glad to see you back, my man.

  14. I have never had a literal seizure, but I think your poem must capture the experience well... you have done well with your literal (literary) seizure!
