Close Shave

I used to shave every day
but the whiskers kept on growing.
Why didn’t they just stay away?
I had no way of knowing.

I’d shave my face all clean and smooth
and get rid of the stubble.
By five o’clock the shadows grew
to come and burst my bubble.

Why do I keep growing hair
every place that I remove it?
Doesn’t hair know that I’m in charge
and have the right to improve it?

Now I don’t even shave at all;
my beard is long and flowing.
I could trim it, but what’s the use?
My hair just keeps on growing.
